In the Dark

Don't you love when you find a song on your iPod that you didn't even know existed? I check out Cds from the library and put them on my iPod, and then I don't listen to them. I discovered this perfect song whilst running the other day, and now I listen to it over and over while I run:

"In the Dark" by Tiesto. The song's a blend of romance and horror and The Neverending Story, no? I also found a rather dubstep remix of the Ke$ha song, "Tik Tok," the original of which I'm not really a fan. I'm dancing in my chair as I type this, by the way. I do have a question, though: is there really a guitar in "In the Dark"? Does it matter in the dark?

Anyone else discover any hidden musical gems lately? Not that this was hidden. Just, you know, skipped over when I flip really fast through my shuffle in order to find the one song I wanted to run to instead of just scrolling to the actual song. Who does that?

I do that all the time: grab a whole bunch of CDs, then never listen to them. But! I recently made a CD to listen to in the car- only adding songs I had not yet listened to- and came across yet another amazing White Stripes song, Hello Operator. And two bands: The Raveonettes and New Young Pony Club.

You are brave. I figure if I haven't heard a song yet, I probably won't like it. Which is silly, since how else do I hear new songs? It's a vicious song cycle.

I am always making new mix CDs/tapes/playlists for myself and then including the same songs. It's a horrible cycle.

But my BBF just turned me onto Hunx and his Punx, Nobunny, and Shannon and the Clams and it's been AWESOME!

New music FTW!

TL- exactly! I run to the same music, and then I don't want to run. I don't know who any of those bands are that you mentioned. Because I am 800 years old.

At least you run? I don't run. Ever. I think running is spawned from Satan... I really need to start running again UGH.

You should google the bands. They are punk rock ish. :) Plus you'll feel super cool knowing these hot new bands right?

Sometimes, I'll hear a song and be like 'WHAT IS THAT SONG IT IS THE COOLEST SONG EVER I MUST OWN IT NOW." And then I'll forget about that and never download the song, but then find it on my iPod. Like, I had ALREADY downloaded it but forgotten. It's like "Wow, no one knows me better than me, huh?"

Also, Michelle is smart. I have a playlist on my iPod called "Unplayed." And sometimes I won't listen to anything but that playlist. A GREAT way to discover new songs to obsess over. :)

It's probably scarier making the choice to listen to new music rather than having it thrown at us via radio or something like that.

TL- I would probably listen to the bands if someone made me a mix CD. I'll check if my library has any of them! That's also a good place for me to start. Thanks! Ronni, isn't it funny how scary new music can be? Yet, how do we discover it? Back to the library I go...
